REVIEW
An absorbing and well-made period piece about a London detective (Dunbar) who is dispatched to a French fishing village, circa WWII, to investigate the mysterious death of his predecessor. He soon becomes entangled in the Freudian affairs of a brother and sister who love each other entirely too much. Boasting a terrific evocation of the times, the film also features a stand-out performance by Lumley as the bitch goddess mother of the incestuous pair. DeWolfe's parable on the price of love weaves its threads of anti-Semitism and incest into an Agatha Christie-like mystery. You Might Also Like
