REVIEW
Several intertwining story lines, all dealing with an extended family, and all dealing with death and dying, rove their way through the uneven though involving I'm Losing You. Langella is the father, a Gene Roddenberry-like TV producer who's just been diagnosed with terminal cancer. McCarthy is his son, a constantly out-of-work actor who falls in love with an HIV-positive beauty (Perkins). Arquette is the adopted daughter, who finds some skeletons in the family closet, and turns to Judaism for comfort. All the stories are interesting, at times gripping, and if Wagner -- here adapting and directing his own novel -- allows his unfamiliarity with the medium show with some weak pacing and lack of visual flair, the performances and unusually thoughtful, probing nature of the material compensate. Chronicle of a wealthy L.A. family that is falling apart, through affairs and tragedy. Directed by Bruce Wagner, from his novel. Executive produced by David Cronenberg. You Might Also Like
