REVIEW
In an uncanny example of life imitating art, Allen's last collaboration with Farrow is an often humorous, sometimes relentless examination of disintegrating marriages and fickle attractions between older men and younger women. Made in an almost documentary, cinema verité style (complete with hand-held camera work), the film is a kind of eavesdropping on the lives of two couples: Mia & Woody and Pollack & Davis. In the opening scene, Davis and Pollack announce to Farrow and Allen that they've decided to separate and from there, the film, in typical Allen fashion, meanders through all of the intellectual and emotional ramifications of marriage, fidelity and lust. Occasionally using talking head interviews with the characters, Allen probes their thoughts on all of these matrimonial ups-and-downs.
