REVIEW
Can a 40-year-old woman facing a midlife crisis find happiness in the arms of a handsome 20-year-old? If you believe this well-produced if familiar romantic drama, then the answer is yes. And when the woman is Bassett and the man looks like Diggs, it's not such a totally unappealing proposition. Bassett stars as Stella, a successful San Francisco stock broker and mother who takes an impromptu vacation to Jamaica with lifelong friend Delilah (Goldberg). There she begins a tentative affair with ex-medical student Winston (Diggs), a local with designs on the attractive Stella. Through some clichéd dramatics and out-of-date dilemmas, Stella faces an uncertain future in the arms of someone 20 years her junior. Bassett gives a competent performance but the script never really gives this terrific actress room to soar. In a nice supporting turn, Goldberg is quite good as Delilah, who ultimately succumbs to Best-Friend syndrome.
