Some would say the term "Swedish comedy" is an oxymoron, but thanks to British director Nutley, this delightful Nordic romp should sway all naysayers. A pixie-like Bergstrom stars as a young cabaret artist who returns to her mother's village to collect her inheritance, one of the town's prized estates. This, along with her leather-clad, motorcycle-straddling gay companion, Zac, turns the normally quiet little town into a beehive of gossip and curious disbelief. Sporting a wonderfully eccentric cast ranging from yokels to drag queens, the film is one of those marvelous contrivances which, though minor in scope, provides plenty of heartwarming good cheer.
