Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer

Initially dismissed by its producers as not having enough blood and action to please the Friday the 13th horror crowd, this harrowing portrait of a psychotic killer was not successful until the art audience discovered it. Henry, recently released from prison for killing his mother, moves in with his old buddy Otis and his sister, Becky. Henry soon resumes his random killings, eventually initiating a more-than-willing Otis in his frenzied rampages. The real horror in the film is not the actual killings, but rather in the sympathetic and non-judgmental approach the film takes as it follows Henry on his cooly detached and senseless pursuit of death.
