Happy Gilmore

REVIEW
After the abysmal Billy Madison, Sandler grows up ever so slightly in this equally moronic golf comedy which produces but a few (insipid) laughs. Happy Gilmore (Sandler) is a hockey nut/player with no talent for the game; in fact, he has no talent for any sport except golf, which he discovers accidentally. When his grandmother is in danger of losing her house, he sets out to win a few bucks in golf tournaments. A puerile smart aleck and perpetual loser, Happy's disregard for convention and his surprising ability make him a hero as he turns the golfing world topsy-turvy. Though Happy Gilmore is only marginally better than Madison, the jokes are still aimed at pre-pubescents, and in his few film appearances Sandler has only honed the skill of being annoying.
