Muddled adaptation of Paul Theroux's novel "Dr. Slaughter," with Weaver in the role of a financially depressed American PhD in London who tries to make ends meet by becoming an "escort" for politically influential clientele -- in this case, the ubiquitous Caine as a high-powered British diplomat. Anyone who's ever fantasized about the statuesque Ms. Weaver will find this a guilty pleasure at best, as nudity seems to have been written into her contract.
