REVIEW
Writer/director/star Fessenden portrays a New Yorker on the rebound who begins a relationship with a hot young creature he meets at a party. He's so smitten with her that even when he discovers she may be a genuine vampire, he can't bring himself to break it off. A perfectly modulated, intelligent horror film, Habit has a terrific NYC atmosphere, with naturalistic performances, excellent location work, and a unique sense of erotic dread throughout. Snaider is an important part of the film's success as well, combining a smoldering sexuality with an alluring coldness that makes her vampire character wholly believable. And Fessenden — aside from creating one of the most unconventional horror films of the '90s — is quite affecting in the lead; a man most of us would recognize in at least one of our friends or relatives (or ourselves). Highly recommended.
