Gun Crazy (1992)

Like a magnum in a velvet glove, Barrymore blows away this touching love-and-bullets drama which proves that sometimes a cigar really is more than just a cigar, but a gun is just a gun. Barrymore slips comfortably into the role of a trailer park girl with a heart of lead who discovers the joys of gun play when she murders her touchy-feely stepfather (Dallesandro) and falls in love with the world's only male virgin (LeGros). This made-for-cable remake owes less to the 1949 classic than it does to Badlands or Bonnie and Clyde, but it is destined to stand in its own right as an exceptional entry into the "love-on-the-run" genre.
