REVIEW
A playful noir with a few good twists, Goodbye Lover is a consistently enjoyable comic mystery which delights in its subversive ways. Older sibling Johnson is having an affair with his brother's wife (Arquette). Younger sibling Mulroney is at his wit's end -- or is he? Conspiracy's afoot when one of them ends up dead. That's when cynical cop DeGeneres enters the scene. It's a case of scam, double cross and hoodwink as allegiances are tested, morals are reinterpreted, and only the truly cunning survive. The ensemble is obviously having a good time with the lively material, with the wily DeGeneres having the most fun with her role -- she's delectable. And watch as writers Ron Peer, Joel Cohen and Alec Sokolow find a devilish use for ditties from The Sound of Music. You Might Also Like
