REVIEW
Myriad cameo appearances by the terminally hip (Madonna, Quentin Tarantino, etc.) and the engaging presence of Randle can't save this disjointed morality tale. Randle plays a young woman who, to pay the rent until she gets her break in show business, accepts a phone sex job. Now a number on a switchboard -- Girl 6 -- not a name, she sinks into the milieu, losing sight of goals as they devolve into fantasies. Clips of Dorothy Dandridge and '70s blaxploitation flicks are interspersed throughout Girl 6, and the closing scene is a tip of the hat to Fellini's 8½. Is this a parable equating acting and moviemaking with prostitution? Probably. But even such touches as the visual pun of Naomi Campbell in a T-shirt bearing the legend "Models Suck" can't salvage this unfocused amalgam of vignettes punctuated by an insistent, intrusive score by Prince.
