What has time done to this low-budget '60s comedy about two "perfectly normal" guys who try to evade the draft by posing as homosexual lovers? Is it offensively homophobic drivel or simply a frequently hilarious, naively camp curiosity? Filmed in a contemporary sitcom style, the film's funniest scenes come when our hapless heroes, under investigation by a suspicious Army recruiter, must move in to a gay bungalow complex, populated by the most outrageous gay stereotypes this side of Fairyland. Greer adds both a campy humor and surprising gay dignity as he steals the show as Malcolm, the boys' gay landlord. If you mind swishy, lisping, prancing, mincing "fags" and the jokes that come with them, avoid this at all costs. For others, this anachronistic sex comedy will provide some laughs and an appreciation of how much things have changed in 30 years. Editor's Suggestions
