One of Hollywood's earliest attempts at handling lesbianism as a central theme, this absorbing but somber drama, adapted from a D.H. Lawrence novella, gives us two women in love but at the same time shows that it is not all that fulfilling. What starts as isolated love for the two ends with defection and betrayal by one and death for the other. But for historial reasons, the film should be seen.
