REVIEW
The director of Re-Animator shows us his vision of the future: an authoritarian world where, due to overpopulation, couples are limited to one child -- offenders are duly sentenced to lengthy stays in corporate-managed, computer-controlled prisons. Lambert and Locklin play a husband and wife who find themselves imprisoned. She must fend off the obsessive advances of the bioengineered warden (a creepy Smith), while he has to contend with the wrath of some violent fellow inmates. Lambert soon assembles a group of prisoners to help him rescue his wife and escape the fortress. Gordon showers the set with blood, and introduces a few grisly futuristic innovations. While not for the squeamish, Fortress is nevertheless an enjoyable sci-fi/action hybrid. You Might Also Like
