Forces of Nature

An engaging romantic comedy which doesn't aim straight for the heart nor the expected, Forces of Nature benefits greatly from the very appealing chemistry between its two stars Bullock and Affleck. Ben (Affleck) is a writer on his way from New York to Savannah where he is to be married the next day. When the plane nearly crashes on takeoff, he "rescues" Sarah (Bullock) who is knocked unconscious. From there, the two pair to get to Savannah, experiencing a series of setbacks and misadventures. Of course, Ben is soon uncertain of his marriage as he's "never met a woman" quite like Sarah. Director Hughes and writer Marc Lawrence bring a certain breeziness to their story (it's not whimsical, but more buoyant) while not going overboard in the how-nature-effects-the-two-lovers department. The ending isn't quite what you'd expect, but then neither are Sarah and Ben. They are both brought to life by two good actors in good form.
