REVIEW
What happens when two scheming American jewel thieves join forces with a pair of double-crossing British thugs? All hell breaks loose, that's what. This slapdash, high-speed comedy is certainly one of the funniest film of the 1980s. Cleese is wonderful as an uptight barrister who inadvertently gets tangled in the mess. Palin has some very funny scenes as the bumbling, stuttering sidekick, and Curtis simply enchants as the manipulative American bombshell. But the laurels go to Oscar winner Kline, who as Curtis' psychotic boyfriend ("Don't call me stupid"), climbs all over the screen in one of the finest comic performances in years. A fabulously entertaining caper comedy featuring a wickedly funny running gag about some very unlucky dogs.
