Smits and Scacchi score high marks based on sex-appeal quotient with this slow-moving though compelling romantic love triangle set against the backdrop of political imprisonment and social injustice. Having just been released from eight years of prison in Castro's Cuba, Smits joins his family in Miami only to find that his wife (Scacchi) has become involved with a local (D'Onofrio) and his young daughter cannot remember him. In his struggle to assimilate and win back his family's love, Smits finds he must choose between his new life and the old comrades of his homeland.
