Ruth Rendell's intense psychological thriller brought to us by the BBC. The year is 1979, Adam inherits Wyvis Hall and plans an idyllic summer with his girlfriend, his best friend and another couple as guests. The summer degenerates into a haze of drugs and drink, and it ends badly. They agree never to see one another again. Twelve years later the new owner of Wyvis Hall discovers the remains of a young woman and a baby on the property, and an investigation begins. Adam and his long lost friends must relive that horrible summer. A palpable homoeroticism hovers over the tale, as it does in many Ruth Rendell/Barbara Vine mysteries. You Might Also Like
