If Shakespeare, Jane Austen and Laclos can return to high school, why not those damn pod people? In another teenage updating, this time of Invasion of the Body Snatchers, teens take on a group of aliens who are taking control of their small town. The story has been told three times already, so there's very little new to add here; in fact, hardly anything at all. But director Rodriguez at least has a degree of fun with the tale. Wood and several classmates stumble upon the fact that the faculty are now body-snatching aliens. And it's up to them to stop 'em. The few effects are good, and there are a couple of swiftly paced scenes. A cast obviously enjoying themselves helps gloss over the slow patches and obligatory pop culture references that become annoying after awhile. Written by Scream scribe Kevin Williamson.
