The Eternal

REVIEW
An alcoholic couple (Elliot and Harris, who are both good) with a young son decide to kick the bottle by visiting Elliot's family in Ireland. They arrive to meet crazy Uncle Bill (Walken), who's keeping a mummified witch in the basement. The set-up promises to be a funny/creepy variation of the classic The Old Dark House. Unfortunately, it's just a moderately interesting mishmash. While there's a little humor (thanks to Walken), the film mostly opts for murky pretension and vague "scares," neither of which work.
