Entrapment (Sean Connery)

A tame thriller given much more class by its two stars than it really deserves, Entrapment stars the beautiful Zeta-Jones as an insurance investigator who tracks down world-class thief Connery when a priceless painting is stolen. She cons her way into a scheme with him, but is she really there to trap him? The story has a twist every half-hour or so, but none will produce more than a mild "oh" as director Amiel approaches the material with a nonchalant ambivalence. The two elaborate thefts that bookend the film sustain interest and even generate a moment or two of suspense, but the cat-and-mouse games between Connery and Zeta-Jones, Connery and Rhames (as his mysterious partner), and Zeta-Jones and Patton (as her boss) go nowhere.
