REVIEW
Sheffer (sporting a truly distracting haircut) plays a respected novelist with a serious case of writer's block who witnesses the shooting death of a jeweler friend. He testifies against the suspect, certain of the man's guilt. But, several days after the conviction, Sheffer sees the guy's double on the street -- could he have nabbed the wrong guy? Halfway intriguing premise holds one's attention for about half the running time, but the film has no surprises or twists. While one wouldn't expect depth from the premise, Double Take is really empty, with neither the scintillating style of DePalma or the witty ironic commentary of a Larry Cohen to compensate.
