Friends of Freud should have a field day with this intriguing, but at times lifeless, variation of the Robert Louis Stevenson chiller with Bates as the insanely curious doctor who manages to isolate his dark side only to find that it is actually feminine! As with most treatises on the nature of good and evil, evil is more fun as evidenced by Beswick's villainous performance as Sister Hyde.
