REVIEW
Julian (McDermott) breaks out of jail after three years to find out from his partner in crime Thoreau (LeGros) that the money from their bank job is gone and his girl (Travis) has taken up with another (Belushi). Reality is hightened by confluences of chance and predestination; forays into the supernatural can be initiated by filling up the pool, and maintaining a healthy respect for animistic spirits and 20th-century rituals. And everyone agrees that Las Vegas is a town of limitless possibilities -- a man can make his mark with a fair degree of patience and a pair of non-conducting rubber-soled boots. The cast is uniformly engaging, and Baran provides some witty directorial touches to the tragically hip script.
