REVIEW
Neill is Cal, a 34-year-old unemployed cook under the thumb of his meddling mom and living in squalor with no clear ambitions. A job in a sleazy night club introduces him to a vibrant young woman and a set of circumstances which transform his muddle through life into a dead-long propulsion for survival. His odyssey involves inadvertent murder, a crazed bouncer, illicit drugs, corpse defilement, firebombing and signs from God. A darkly funny, low-budget surprise, with the gritty sense of realism often present in Australian films. Neill is matched by the supporting cast in whimsical portrayals of marginal small-town characters who handle life's eccentricities with more heart than reason.
