REVIEW
Vanity, thy name is woman -- or, more specifically, Streep and Hawn in this hilariously vicious black comedy. Youthful lovers Hawn and Willis are engaged; that's until Broadway star Streep gets in the way. Years later, Hawn plots her revenge: Streep's death. But there's a catch -- Streep has found the secret to immortality. Black comedy doesn't often get sharper than this, and there are some staggering special effects to help underscore the film's delightful nastiness. Streep once again amazes as she revels in the role of a vain, aging actress; her satiric performance is at once subtle, cunning and totally brilliant. And wait until you see Goldie as a 400-pound eating machine -- it alone is worth the price of admission. Editor's Suggestions
