A loving ode to the intricacies of filmmaking. Truffaut portrays the compassionate director of a beleaguered production. Léaud is a spoiled young actor and Bisset is the beautiful heroine of the film within a film. Cortese is splendid as an actress who just can't get that one take right. An exhilarating and affectionate satire that captured the Best Foreign Film Oscar. (French with English subtitles)
