REVIEW
Stylish and ultra-violent, The Corruptor comes close to being a Hong Kong action film, right down to the central themes of male friendship and betrayal. Unfortunately, it also tries to be a cop-buddy movie, a car chase fest, and a murder mystery. The smashing opening, reminiscent of A Better Tomorrow, is Yun-Fat at his best, gunning down Fuk gang members in an antique shop. Against charisma like his, Wahlberg looks a bit lost. There's a great car chase in the middle, with pedestrians at the mercy of blazing guns, but like the other elements, the parts never gel into a solid film.
