1970, 91 min A.K.A.: Desperate Moments, Gli Occhi Freddi Della Paura Studio: Redemption USA Cast: Giovanna Ralli, Frank Wolff, Fernando Rey, Karin Schubert Director: Enzo G. Castellari Rating: Not Rated Our Rating:
FROM THE LINER NOTESStylish and extravagant, Cold Eyes of Fear is an excellent example of an Italian "giallo" thriller. Set in swinging '70s London, this movie brings you a dark and decadent world of corrupt cops, vengeful ex-cons, threats, betrayal, fist-fights and feisty femme fatales. Motivated by revenge, an ex-con abducts the son of the judge who put him behind bars. The plot thickens as a deeper betrayal is revealed, leading the story to erotic S&M scenes with scantily-clad women and violent trysts in darkened, atmospheric nightclub settings.
REVIEW
Set in late '60s swinging' London, this stylish thriller centers around a horny couple who, instead of a night of shagging end up hostages to two increasingly deranged thugs. The man (equipped with wild hair and sideburns that go on for days) and his floozy pick-up (an Italian spitfire [think Joan Collins with an Italian accent] who gets slapped, kicked, chased and all other sorts of indignities) find that their terrorists have reasons other than robbery. Fernando Rey plays a magistrate who is not as upstanding as he appears.
