From the production team that brought us Superman (Alexander and Ilya Salkind) comes this equally mythological depiction of the seafaring Genoan of American folklore, Cristóbal Colón. Brimming with lots of overblown production values, the film sets sail into the murky waters of historical narrative with its compass askew and its rigging tangled. Despite these failings, however, the film will still be satisfying viewing to lovers of melodramatic adventure on the high seas.
