When not dwelling on the sappy romance at its core, The Chase is almost remarkable in its skewering of the feeding frenzy network news has become. Sheen stars as a wrongly accused fugitive who accidentally takes a millionaire's daughter (Swanson) hostage, thereby setting off a high-speed run for the border -- with full media circus in tow. Rifkin's satire mixes hip, self-assured MTV-style photography with dead-on lampoons of media-ocrity to create an alternately appealing comedy.
