Fonda sparkles in the lead role in this wonderful western spoof as a schoolteacher who turns outlaw to avenge her father's murder. But it's Marvin who walked away with an Oscar for his performance in dual roles -- he plays both the film's villain and the washed-up, alcoholic gunman who is forced out of retirement to hunt him down. Cole and Kaye spice up the film with intermittent musical numbers as a pair of wandering minstrels. A breezy, comedic homage to the classic western take on the conflict between good and evil.
