REVIEW
When she accepts a part-time position as dentist at a maximum security prison in London, a newly divorced woman begins a hesitant affair with a prisoner and is thrust into perilous circumstances. Captives may not feature the most original plot line, but thanks to extremely appealing performances from its two leads, and a well-versed screenplay, this romantic drama/thriller is consistently engaging. Ormand is captivating as a woman caught off guard, whose act of kindness leads her to a road she never anticipated. Roth plays her lover with smoldering intensity, a victim to his surroundings and loneliness as much as the woman he falls in love with. Captives never relies on the obvious, instead creating a believable and sensual relationship between the two characters while pitting them against outside forces. You Might Also Like
