As quirky comedies go, this one takes the cake, so to speak. Jaglom delivers an eccentric love story among a group of decidedly peculiar New York neurotics. Black is Zee, an emotional wreck, frazzled by her recent break-up with her husband and starved for affection. She meets Eli (Emil), a balding, opinionated, health-obsessed rationalist, who goes so far as to measure his pulse during sex to gauge the strength of his orgasms. Pure emotion meets pure logic and the result is an oddly charming couple.
