REVIEW
The last theatrical film of the great Tandy is an appealing road movie with the actress in wonderful form. She plays the title character, a retired concert violinist who lives in a past of accolade and romance. Slightly scandalous and given to exaggeration more than not, she begins a cross-country trip from her Georgia home to Toronto with Fonda, a fellow if untalented musician with an uncertain future. On the way, they meet a select group of eccentrics and try to come to terms with their individual concerns. Both actresses are delightful, and it's to their credit that each is able to overcome the generic dialogue and predictable dramatics. Cronyn also appears as Tandy's old flame, and their scenes together are poignant beyond words. You Might Also Like
