It's Clueless meets Midnight Express as Danes and Beckinsdale play a couple of young naïve travellers and recent high school grads who soon find themselves trapped in a Thai prison, trying desperately to get a hearing before the nation's kangaroo-court justice system. There are attempted escapes, and the women's friendship is strained by the prison experience. The territory feels too well trodden here, but the performances are convincing and there are undeniable moments of tension throughout. Pullman is the American lawyer who defends the two girls.
