Only a child of the '80s, who was raised on "Dallas" and MTV, could think it acceptable to resolve a dramatic conflict with an "it was all a dream" sequence disguised as a music video. And twentysomething director Lynch shows her age in this immature study of love and image. Though the leads (Sands and Fenn) are undoubtedly physically attractive, Sands' twitchy, insecure performance makes the film extremely difficult to watch, even before the "dismember the one you love" theme comes to bear.
