Blue Steel (1990)

Curtis delivers a cooly understated performance in this atmospheric police thriller as a rookie cop who empties her gun into an armed robber, and is promptly suspended when the dead man's gun cannot be found. Unbeknownst to her, the witness who stole the weapon is the same man she has just started dating -- the man responsible for a series of killings using bullets with her name on them. Silver is effective as the serial killer. Director Bigelow suffuses the film with the noir glow that permeated her acclaimed vampire saga, Near Dark.
