The trials and tribulations of the staff of a Boston underground newspaper during the 1960s is at the heart of director Silver's quirky and highly spirited low-budget charmer. Full of counter-culture sentiments and refreshingly original humor, the film boasts an endearing cast of eccentrics fighting the system and fulfilling their journalistic aspirations -- until faced with the fateful decision to "sell out." A solid ensemble of then-unknowns are all first-rate in bringing the convictions and passions of a generation to life.
