REVIEW
Director Chabrol delivers another existential look at a French woman trying to find her place in life. Told in flashbacks, the film tells the story of Betty (Trintignant), a young alcoholic woman cast aside by her husband and desperately trying to keep her emotions and sanity in check. Betty is befriended by an older woman (Audran), and as the story unfolds, the viewer learns more about these two women's lives and how they got to where they are. Betty is highly emotional, tragic and ultimately satisfying. (French with English subtitles) Editor's Suggestions
