Almost all of Kubrick's films are masterpieces, and this is no exception to that rule. In Barry Lyndon, Kubrick goes beyond the bounds of normal cinematography and uses the camera as a paintbrush and the screen as a canvas with which to tell his story through still lifes and landscapes. Adapted from Thackeray's novel, the film follows Barry Lyndon on his search for success in 18th-century England.
