REVIEW
In Townsend's amateurish, unfunny spoof, Berry and newcomer Dessalle star as Nisi and Mickey, two blue-collar waitresses from the South who dream of opening a hair salon/soul food restaurant. However, in this homogenized Pretty Woman meets Clueless about wish fulfillment, clashing cultures and really tacky fashion choices, dreams prove fleeting as they head to El Lay for fame and fortune. Upon their arrival, they are offered exactly that if Nisi will masquerade as the granddaughter of the former sweetheart of a dying millionaire (Landau). Are they pawns in a devious scheme? By then you just won't care. Generic R&B tunes, an annoying dramatic score, and "so-what" spot-the-star cameos can't deflect the tame writing and directing. You Might Also Like
