Backdraft (1991)

An impressively mounted if dramatically awkward homage to the bravery of our nation's firefighters. Russell and Baldwin stars as brothers and firemen, whose volatile relationship is as explosive as the fires they fight. The fine cast also includes the splendid De Niro as a fire inspector investigating a series of arsons, and Glenn as Russell's seasoned co-worker. But the real star of the film is the spectacular fire-fighting scenes -- director Howard has captured some awe-inspiring footage of firefighting in action.
