This poignant drama observes the effects of a group of Italian POWs on a remote Scottish village in 1944. Three of the Italians are housed next to Janie (Logan), who lives a tedious life with her taciturn husband. As they try to relieve each other's loneliness, a sexual attraction develops between Janie and one of the POWs which both frightens and entices her. An impressive debut for writer-director Radford.
