REVIEW
Two typical American lads on holiday in Europe find more adventure than they bargained for in this chilling and entertaining mirth-filled terror fest. Director Landis combines a great rock score, excellent F/X, an erotic love story and moments of inspired humor to tell the tale of a vacationing college student, David (Naughton), who is attacked by a werewolf on the moors of the English countryside. As his friend Jack (Dunne), who died in the same attack, haunts him from the grave in a gruesome series of deteriorating visits, a hallucinating David begins to doubt his own sanity until he eventually terrorizes London under the glow of the silvery full moon. Agutter is the nurse who takes a liking to David. Rick Baker was the first recipient for the newly created Oscar category of Makeup. (Sequel: An American Werewolf in Paris) Editor's Suggestions
