Review

Pure trash, this lifeless, sloppily directed adaptation of the Marvel comic about a crime-fighting blind lawyer is lacking in excitement, humor and story -- the trademarks of comic books regaling the adventures of superheroes. Affleck, who is quickly wearing out his welcome as a film star, is bland beyond belief as Daredevil, a dour attorney/vigilante who was blinded as a child. Now an adult, he uses his superpowers to fight evil -- here in the form of Duncan's cardboard villain known as the Kingpin. Director Johnson brings no sense of fun or fantasy to this fantastic story, only a brooding hero, dark action scenes and a deadened pace. At least Garner and Farrell look good while they go through the gestures of pretending to care.
