Review

A sparkling version of the Tony Award—winning Broadway musical about the events leading up to the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Far from a detail-ridden history lesson, this rousing entertainment is a witty, clever and significant glance at the framing of a country. Most of the original stage stars repeat their roles, with Daniels in his finest hour as the antagonistic lobbyist for independence, John Adams; he's smartly supported by the wonderful da Silva as Ben Franklin, Howard as Thomas Jefferson and the golden-voiced Cullum as Edward Rutledge.
